The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) released its quarterly and year-end results on April 7, showing a dip in Atlantic City casino profits for 2024.
Casino operators reported $3.3 billion in net revenue—a 0.5% decrease from 2023—and a gross operating profit of $709.1 million, down 9.2% year-over-year.
“Despite another record-high gross gaming revenue of $5.7 billion, gains didn’t translate into higher net revenue for Atlantic City’s casinos,” said Jane Bokunewicz, faculty director at Stockton University’s Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality, and Tourism. She attributed the drop in profits to rising expenses and weaker consumer demand observed in the latter half of the year.
