Famed Philly Restaurateur Stephen Starr Plans Atlantic City Comeback with Two New Restaurants. James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr is returning to Atlantic City’s dining scene with two new concepts set to debut this summer at Ocean Casino Resort.
Announced April 3, the partnership will bring Starr’s culinary vision back to the Shore. One of the new restaurants will be inspired by Paris’ Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte, featuring a menu built around steak frites. The second concept is still under wraps.
A celebrated figure in the hospitality world, Starr has earned accolades including “Restaurateur of the Year” from Bon Appétit and Zagat, as well as the James Beard Foundation’s “Outstanding Restaurateur” award. Starr previously operated Atlantic City outposts of Buddakan and Continental at the former Pier at Caesars, both of which closed during the pandemic after nearly 15 years.
The new restaurants will replace Sky Café and Harpers on the resort’s lobby level.
Since founding Starr Restaurants in 1995, he has built one of the country’s largest independent and multi-concept restaurant groups, with over 30 establishments across Philadelphia, New York, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
