Atlantic City Emerging as Affordable Shore Alternative for Homebuyers and Visitors

Atlantic City is drawing renewed interest from both visitors and homebuyers. Thanks to its location and affordability, the city is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to other Jersey Shore destinations.

Located less than an hour from Philadelphia under normal traffic conditions, Atlantic City remains one of the most accessible beach destinations in the region. As a result, day trips and weekend getaways continue to appeal to residents throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.

Beyond its beaches, the city offers a wide range of entertainment, dining, and hospitality options. In addition, more than 17,000 hotel rooms support year-round tourism and overnight stays.

For decades, many Shore homebuyers focused on communities such as Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Stone Harbor, and Cape May. However, home prices in those markets have risen significantly in recent years.

Meanwhile, Atlantic City has remained one of the most affordable coastal housing markets in New Jersey. According to recent housing data, median home prices remain substantially below many neighboring Shore communities.

Affordability is helping reshape perceptions of the market. While Atlantic City has long been associated with gaming and entertainment, broader residential opportunities are attracting new interest from buyers seeking vacation properties and second homes.

Another advantage is the city’s free public beaches. Unlike many New Jersey beach destinations that require seasonal tags or daily fees, beach access remains available without additional cost.

At the same time, investment and redevelopment activity continue throughout the city. New hospitality projects, residential development, and tourism-focused initiatives are contributing to ongoing momentum.

As housing costs rise across much of the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City is increasingly being viewed as a market that offers accessibility, affordability, and long-term value.
