In his inaugural year at Stockton University, President Joe Bertolino is contemplating the school’s potential future development in Atlantic City, which includes a comprehensive strategic plan and an associated fundraising campaign. Taking over as the university’s sixth president in Galloway, New Jersey, a year ago, Bertolino described it as a “homecoming.” A native of South Jersey, with familial ties to Stockton, he previously served as president of Southern Connecticut State University. Bertolino now leads a relatively young university striving to establish itself as a pivotal institution along the Jersey Shore, particularly with its expanding Atlantic City campus, amidst ongoing challenges of declining enrollment in higher education.
