More than three years in the making, the $100 million highly anticipated Island Waterpark at the Showboat Resort in Atlantic City has set an opening date of June 30. The concept, from Tower Investments CEO Bart Blatstein, is part of a series of investments the Philadelphia developer hopes to make into the beleaguered shore town. 

Advertised as “the world’s premier beachfront indoor entertainment experience,” the 120,000-square-foot venue features 11 water slides that reach as high as 60 feet and can carry people as fast as 30 miles per hour, a retractable roof, retail and dining options, and an adults-only section. Blatstein said he expects the venue to attract “hundreds of thousands of new guests” in its first year of operation.
