Stockton University Nears Completion of Second Atlantic City Dorm

Stockton University is nearing completion of a second student residence hall at its satellite campus in Atlantic City, another step toward the gambling destination’s goal of diversifying its economy beyond gaming.

The 135,000-square-foot, six-story building is located at 3550 Atlantic Ave., at the corner of Atlantic and South Providence avenues, in the Chelsea Heights section of the city, just a short walk from the rest of Stockton’s Atlantic City campus. A May 3 ribbon-cutting ceremony has been scheduled for the 416-bed dormitory, a project that represents a public-private partnership with Atlantic City Development Corp., known as AC Devco, a nonprofit redevelopment company.

Galloway, New Jersey-based Stockton debuted its $178.3 million Atlantic City campus in September 2018, marking the first big noncasino development project in this city in years. Making Atlantic City a college town was part of an effort to revitalize and diversify the city’s economy. The campus included an academic center, a seven-story parking garage and a 145-unit, nearly 220,000-square-foot student residential complex on the Boardwalk that faces the beach.
